The client that I did the iHula design for approached me again and asked me to do another design project following the iHula design. I accepted since I really enjoyed designing the iHula project.
Briefing:

We need a nodding dog
The scenery should be a backyard with elements that match the scenery
We would like to see something cute like the crab in the iHula project
Add the dog’s name Charles somewhere
We need 512x512, 480x320 splash screen, 480x320 animation screens, iPhone icon

I created the whole project in Adobe Illustrator as vector to take advantage of lossless upsizing and possible print option down the line. I started with sketching of the dog and added the details later right within Adobe Illustrator without sketching these elements. I covered the ‘cute’ element with a cat sitting on the fence, watching the dog.
The following yard scene was approved by the client:

Following the splash screen including the name of the application.

I have created the 512x512 and the iPhone icon analog to these screenshots.
The client was happy with the result, all I care about.

Briefing:

The idea is to to create an iPhone application that shows a tilting hula girl, just like the ones you put on your dashboard.
Make the hula girl look attractive.
Add something cute.
Create a 512x512 image, 480x320 splash screen, all 480x320 animation screens, iPhone icon.

I looked through stock designs and the internet and have not found a single hula girl that fit my vision for this project. I ended up creating my own hula girl from scratch.
I submitted the design to the client and it was approved. I created this hula girl in Adobe Illustrator to take advantage of vector scaling and possible print option down the line. To add the ‘cute’ element I opted for a crab. Here too, I had to create the crab from scratch. I sketched it and used Adobe Illustrator for this task as well.
Following the hula girl and the crab I have created for the client:

I added the background scenery and the following result was approved by the client:

Following the 512x512 image I created:

My vision for the splash screen was to add the iHula lettering and something funny, involving the crab. Following the result I cooked up:

The client was thrilled, all I care about. I hope the application will sell well at the Apple Store.

Sometime I take on projects that are so funny I can not say no to them. In this case it was for an iPhone Application.
Briefing:

We need some designs to go with our new iPhone/iPod Touch application, Babe-O-Meter. I need one girl in plain Jane look and in hot Jane look. Incorporate a hammer strength as known from fairgrounds. The hammer strength is showing the hot stage of the person playing the game. We also need an animation that goes hand in hand with the hammer strength measure units (0 - 100). The better the player is the more will be seen from hot jane. We will also need iPhone compatible 512x512 screenshot and 57x57 icon.

Now that sounds pretty interesting ;) ...
I started working on the idea. Plain Jane and hot Jane being the same character I had to make sure their body features match up 100%. So I started with the hot Jane character. I found some promising stock art and send it to the client. One version came back with the words: ‘This one seems fine it just isn’t hot enough’. So I took that character and used it as reference model. I changed the character so much that in the end there were not many similarities left. I completely changed the face, added legs that where not part of the stock art changed posture, haros, added shoes, etc. I sent it off to the client and the result received the hotness approval from the client :). Based on that character I designed the plain Jane version. I took away cool accessories, put her in a brown turtle neck pullover ( turtle necks are cool :) ), some plain skirt and shoes. Also removed the make up and there she was, plain Jane. Following is what I came up with:

Next I designed the strength hammer attraction which included measures correlating to the hotness factor of the player. The client also needed a loading screen to kill time while loading images. The challenge was to not show too much from the hot girl since that is the purpose of the game to uncover the hot Jane. Following the result I came up with.

Another graphic to launch the game was needed and the following the what I came up with:

The two final pieces were the iPhone icon and the 512x512 pixel screenshot. Following what I came up with (the 512x512 pixel screenshot has been resized to fit this blog):

This was really a fun project.
All has been finished to the complete satisfaction of the client, all I care about.

An iPhone developer contacted me in regards of some design work he would need for his application. I looked at the specifications and I said, lets do it. The client submitted two photographs as reference. The client needed a top view of the geiger tool, and an application icon. The geiger tool should also be animated and it would require me to create 51 animation frames showing all different stages of the display.

Following is what I came up with. Displayed are resized screenshots of different stages of the animation and the iPhone icon image which will be converted into an iPhone icon by the clients development kit. Once I receive the icon from the client I will be sure to add it to this post.

All work has been done in Adobe Photoshop CS3. I needed far more time than I anticipated. I thought I would get this done in about 3-4 hours but in the end it took about 6 working hours. The display turned out to be a bit more complex than I thought.
I sent the results off to the client and I was happy to read that the client was very excited about the new 'face' for his application. Another happy customer, all I care about.
